Problem: Women are not able to take full advantage of the Govt welfare schemes due to lack of awareness. Besides, primary source of income, they are interested in knowing other sources of income. The sources of the livelihood are seasonal. From April to June women are involved in collection of the flower of Mahua, fruits of awla and leaves of Tendu which are sold to respective contactors for earning money. From July to March they work on their own agricultural lands or as laborers on other’s land. Mostly landless laborers migrate to Banda, Kanpur, Allahabad, Shankergarh and such other places in search of other sources of livelihood. Working under MNREGA they get 100 days employment and earn 125/- per day.
Solution: There is need to organize meetings with the Govt official to impart complete information regarding welfare schemes .The skill development programmes can be organized to upgrade their vocational skill in order to enable to enhance their income. They should be made aware of the market situation to help them decide other Income Generation Activities to be taken up.
