1.5. Society For Social Ventures (SSV) as Partner NGO of Mamta Samajik Sanstha, (MSS) Dehradun SPMU of States Uttarakhand and UP under Global Fund Round 9 Project Axshya which is largest Advocacy, Communications, and Social Mobilization (ACSM) project supporting Government of India’s Revised National TB Control Program RNTCP to expand it’s reach ,visibility and effectiveness.

Activities Conducted:
1.5.1.Meeting with Ashish Bhatnagar District Coordinator (DC) Mamta Samajik Sanstha & selection of Volunteers
1.5.2. Door to door survey for identification of TB Symptomatics
1.5.3. Sputum Collection and Transportation to respective DMCS
Operational Area:
- (Urban Site) Shergarhi,Mayapuri Hazipur, Nauchandi slums of Meerut City
- (Rural Site) Village Mandora, Block Sardhana, District Meerut, UP.
Targeted Group / Beneficiary:
- T.B Symptomatics were identified during survey.
- Sputum of 27 TB Symptomatics were collected and transported to respective DMCs Medical College, Lokpriya Hospital & CHC Daurala
- Two TB Patients each from Block Sardhana and Meerut slums were identified and put on DOTS treatment.
Working Team at the initiation of the Program: Sunita Goel (Chief Functionary-SSV) along with Assignment Based field volunteers Kulveer, Satyendra, Maninder pal Singh and Gajendra.
1.5.4. T.B Forum Quarterly Meeting in DTO office of Pyarelal Sharma District Hospital Meerut

Activities Conducted:
1.5.5. 22 TB awareness meetings of Gaon Kalyan Samiti (GKS)were organized with PRI/ VHSC/ SHG/CBOs to mobilized them towards highly contagious disease
1.5.6. Referred T.B. symptomatic to nearest DMC for smear examination
Operational Area:
- (Rural Site) 22 GPs Niloha, Jhinjharpur, Bahjadka, Pilona, Khedi Manihar, Nagori, Amrauli urf Badagaon, Naidu, Gagsona, Dandupur, Rahawati, Khalidpur, Sakauti, Mawana Khurd, Nangleesa, Bhagwanpur, Tigari, Kol, Jhunjhuni, Assa, Akbarpur Sadat and Bana Kishoripur of Block Mawana, District Meerut
Targeted Group / Beneficiary:
- 291 members of VHSC, PRI, teachers, principals of Govt schools and village community were mobilized.
- 36 Axshaya Mitras were identified to disseminate information to village community with regard to prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the TB disease.
- Referral slips were distributed to new T.B. Suspects showing the symptoms of TB.

1.6. Society For Social Ventures (SSV) in partner with CBCI NGO (PNGO) of Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India-Coalition for AIDS and Related Diseases (CBCI-CARD), New Delhi under Global Fund Round 9 Project Axshya supporting India’s Revised National National TB Control Program (RNTCP).

Activities Conducted:
1.6.1. NGOs Sensitization , Selection & Orientation to Community Volunteers by CBCI CARD.
Operational Area: Red Cross Bhawan, Pyarelal Sharma District Hospital, Meerut UP.
Targeted Group / Beneficiary: NGOs were screened, sensitized, selected and community volunteers of the selected NGOs were oriented towards Axshya Program.

Activities Conducted:
1.6.2. 117 Meetings of Gaon Kalyan Samiti were organized in 47 GPs mobilizing targeted groups on symptoms based TB diagnosis, prevention and control, identify new TB suspects, retrieve defaulters, assist in curing of TB patients by increasing suspect rate and reducing the mortality rate and support RNTCP of GOI in eradication of the disease.

Targeted Group / Beneficiary: Approximately 2183 VHSCs/ PRIs/ Community leaders of villages were mobilized, sensitized and advocated through GKS meetings on TB care and control for conveying this message to their community and asking them to support in eradication of the disease by identifying new TB suspects in the villages.

1.6.3. Axshya Samvad (AS) (Intensified Outreach Activity) i.e. reaching out directly door to door to difficult to reach households of marginalized and vulnerable community of

- Slums of Urban Site
to inform symptoms, diagnosis, treatment of TB, identify TB suspects ,retrieve defaulters & avail RNTCP services in case of need sease.

- Approximately 9239 households of various villages of Block Mawana were reached out directly.
- 1021 HHs in 4slum colonies of urban sites of Meerut Tehsil were interacted by directly.

1.6.2-3.1.TB Symptomatics identified in difficult-to-reach areas during meetings of GKS, Axshya Samvad(AS)& by RHCP(local Doctors).
1.6.2-3.2.Referring symptomatic to nearest DMC for smear examination to facilitate diagnosis.
1.6.2-3.3.Sputum Collection & Transportation(SC &T) of TB symptomatic identified during Axshya Samvad(AS),meetings of GKS, by RHCP(local Doctors).
1.6.2-3.4.TB diagnosed patient put on DOTS in respective DMC (CHC Mawana, PHC Phlawada OR LLR Medical College, Meerut) for 6-8 month’s treatment.
Targeted Group / Beneficiary:
- Approximately 1530 TB suspects from rural sites and 82 from urban sites i.e. total 1612 TB Symptomatics were identified.
- 1012 from Villages & 79 from Slum Colonies i.e. 1091 TB Symptomatics were referred to respective DMCs.
- Sputum of 518 from Villages +3 from Slum Colonies i.e. 521 TB Symptomatics were collected at their door steps and Transported to respective DMCs (CHC Mawana, PHC Phlawada OR LLR Medical College, Meerut) to facilitate diagnosis.
- 45 from Villages and 1 from Slum Colonies i.e. 46 TB positive were linked to RNTCP treatment services successfully.
1.6.4. MidMedia Activities to enhance the reach of Tuberculosis related messages in communities of difficult to reach areas.
- Total 15 Wall Paintings on TB related slogans in 5 Axshya Villages at entry, center and exit of each village where there was maximum mobility of the community to enhance awareness, prevention and control of the disease.
- A community sensitization meeting on TB care & control “टी बी पर विजय,टी बी मुक्त गांव है अपना लक्ष्य” was organized on Republic Day with the community.
