Hepatitis B Awareness & Vaccination

1.8. Society For Social Ventures(SSV) under the guidance of Research India(RI) , Lucknow implemented awareness and vaccination programme for prevention & control of dreadful disease Hepatitis B causing inflammation of liver leading to liver cirrhosis & cancer. A series of three shots of Hepatitis vaccination can protect liver from being infected. This series gradually builds up the body’s immunity and protects from Hepatitis B virus. 5000 pamphlets and health/Registration cards had been printed and vaccines were purchased.

Year: 31st December 2013 to 18th January 2015.

Activities Organised

1.8.1.Organization of Orientation Meetings & capacity building programs and Selection of volunteers

Targeted Group / Beneficiary:

  • Orientation & training were organized & volunteers were selected.

Orientation Meeting with Vivek Singh, District Coordinator Research India Lucknow ,BHW Shyam Singh & Sunita Goel ( SSV) at Residence of Shyam Singh at Moradabad

Capacity Building by Sanjai Shukla (Research India ) to 25-30 volunteers of polio drop program and selection of volunteers for organization of awareness camps and immunization of Hepatitis B at house of Raghuveer Singh ,Kamla Nagar ,Moradabad

1.8.2.Organization of Awareness camps , Household visits and vaccination to protect community from Hepatitis B

Operational Area: 

  • Three blocks Bhagatpur Tanda, Kanth & Moonda Pandey of District Moradabad.
  • Four  villages Kishanpur Virana,Jandheri,Khedki Jadeed, Batnor  of Block Mawana and one ward Kalyan Singh of  Tehsil Mawana, District Meerut.

Targeted Group / Beneficiary:

  • Awareness camps, door to door awareness and immunization conducted.
  • Total approx 200 people were registered in District Moradabad and did not show interest in three doses of vaccination at an interval of one month.
  • A total of 268 people were registered ,213 received first vaccination ,171 received two successive vaccinations and 142 received three successive vaccinations and were completely protected in operational area of Block Mawana, District Meerut

Community showed a callous attitude towards their health in both Districts Meerut,Moradabad
